He’s played King Lear at the National Theatre and portrayed an actor starring in a long-running stage production of Lear in 2015 TV film The Dresser... And this week, Sir Anthony Hopkins is taking on the iconic role once more in a new star-studded BBC2 adaptation of the Shakespeare play, directed by The Dresser’s Richard Eyre.

The impressive cast also features Sherlock star Andrew Scott, Emily Watson, Downton Abbey’s Jim Carter, Christopher Eccleston, Jim Broadbent and The Crown’s new signing Tobias Menzies.
