Earlier this year it was revealed that James Norton would be leaving period drama Grantchester during the upcoming fourth series, to concentrate on other filming commitments.
And now ITV has released this rather lovely photo to announce the casting of rising star Tom Brittney – who has previously appeared in Call the Midwife and Outlander – as his replacement. Tom, 27, will take the role of the new local vicar, Will Davenport.
‘As excited as I am to be filming a new series of Grantchester, it’s also heartbreaking to be saying goodbye to Sidney Chambers,’ says James, who has played the charming clergyman since 2014.
