"EVERYONE ACCEPTS THAT LIFE IS REALLY STRANGE"

How would some of the most incredible imaginings from the realms of science fiction impact on our lives if they became a reality?

That’s the intriguing scenario at the heart of Tales from the Loop, a new eight-part sci-fi drama arriving on Amazon Prime Video this week.

Based on the work of Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag, the story is set in the small town of Mercer in Ohio, home to the Mercer Center for Experimental Physics, also known as ‘The Loop’.

The facility aims to examine the mysteries of the universe, but it also appears to enable seemingly impossible things to happen, from people and buildings disappearing to curious time-shifting.

As the spotlight falls on several of the town’s residents, the drama explores how The Loop affects them – in particular, talented physicist Loretta, played by Rebecca Hall, who works at the facility, which was founded by her father-in-law Russ Willard (Jonathan Pryce).

TV Times talked to London-born Rebecca, 37, best known here for her role in critically acclaimed BBC2 drama Parade’s End and Hollywood movies including Iron Man 3 and The BFG, to find out more…
