The Practice Of Sanatan Dharma
Yoga and Total Health|November 2020
The arrival of saintly souls in this mundane world is truly a divine blessing. Their birth seems ordinary. But over their lifetime, they achieve miraculous feats and, as their purpose in this world is fulfill led, they depart. Paramhamsa Madhavadasji was one of them. He shouldered the responsibility of creating awareness amongst the Sadhus, a Herculean task! Shri Yogendraji and Dr. Jayadeva were no different. They, too, fulfilled the arduous responsibility of simplifying yoga, once an esoteric practice restricted to Yogis, for the householders.

The Practice Of Sanatan Dharma

There were many decisions unanimously agreed upon.

1.The need for reformation of the Sadhus so that they are held to higher standards and fulfill their duty of creating faith and promoting spirituality and the practice of Sanatan Dharma in the people. This was necessary as lapses were obvious at that time and people’s faith in them was waning.

Founder Shri Yogendraji's decision was farsighted as he selected Yoga as a medium not just to preach but also to create a spiritual experience and show a way of life to the householder. He, thus, decided to become a householder Yogi himself.

2. Sadhus should have knowledge of Vedas as well as formal education to be able to guide people. Simply donning the Sadhu attire and joining the Jamat (group) does not make one fit to preach to others.
