Fine VINTAGE

Nothing says class like a 1964 Jaguar E-Type roadster. Enzo Ferrari rated it the most beautiful car ever made – and who could argue with him? Celebrity chef and nutritionist Zoe Bingley-Pullin is lucky enough to have the keys to this classic British beauty.

Zoe and her car-enthusiast husband, entrepreneur and personal trainer Michael Ryan, have a staggering collection of 18 classic cars, including an iconic 1956 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. She says the E-Type Jag is her favourite.

The couple’s love of vintage runs right through their Sydney home, shared with six-year-old daughter Emily and cats Ruby and Scarlet. The beachy two-storey home is peppered with a fascinating collection of historical pieces, including a tactile 120-year-old shearer’s table.

Have you always appreciated cars?

Absolutely. My dad is a pilot and my brother and I grew up hearing aeroplane and engineering talk. That really rubbed off on us.

I saw my first E-Type Jag when I was 16. It was British Racing Green and our glamorous lady neighbour was behind the wheel. She looked like a dream driving down the road. In my mind I was like: “That’s what I want!”

Why is it your favourite?

It’s so well crafted. You can tell by the aerodynamics that it’s not only able to go fast but also move in a sensual way.
