A five-bedroom townhouse in south-west London.

1 "Open-plan creates such an easy vibe"

After living in a Manhattan condominium for eight years, we weren't sure how to use the space in this townhouse most effectively our architects, TR Studio, helped us figure it out. We decided we wanted the biggest possible living space on the ground floor, so we knocked the kitchen through to a smaller reception room and extended into the garden.'

2 "Clay walls give a relaxed, lived in finish"

'The colour of the walls creates a frame for the rooms. I thought about exposed brick, but that wasn't going to work in this build, so TR Studio suggested this finish. It's also a reference to my half-Italian heritage, evoking the feel of old palazzi. We chose a shade of pink and were quite nervous about the results, but it is gentle and calming. Guests often comment on it and it really complements the muted, organic colour palette in this space.'
