Mirror is one of the most versatile and effective decorating tools. Use it to create a sense of space, improve proportions, add glamour, bring in light and reflect beautiful views – its uses are endless.
1 WALL POWER
Layering is very effective when decorating. For real glamour, hang a framed mirror on a mirrored wall. Or copy this idea and place three large mirrors against the wall and place furniture like a server or console table against them.
2 DOUBLE DELIGHT
Reflective surfaces are very useful if you want sophistication and the illusion of space. In this Jo’burg apartment, designer David Muirhead used their attributes to the max by cladding one wall in mirror and including a dining table with a black glass surface.
3 SQUARE ROUTES
Create a unique feature with a series of identical mirrors hung in a grid shape. The fragmented reflections give the effect of a piece of art. However, for this to work successfully, the mirrors must be hung in straight lines. If you don’t trust your eye, get in a professional picture hanger. Decor by Studio Dylan Thomaz.
