James Forrest pounced on goal chance at Murrayfield to pave way to Hampden.

JAMES Forrest has a happy habit of finding the net in big League Cup games for the Hoops and he did so again on Sunday – but there were a couple of differences about his strike in the 3-0 semi-final win over Hearts.

The winger netted the opener in last year’s winning final against Motherwell and also netted against Aberdeen in the 3-0 final win the previous season.

The variance this time is that both of those goals were scored at the traditional Hampden venue, while Sunday’s was at Murrayfield – and, more contentiously perhaps, there is a school of thought that thinks Ryan Christie’s initial shot crossed the line after being fumbled by Zdenek Zlamal in the Hearts goal before Forrest made sure by calmly slotting home.

It wasn’t until Forrest’s shot hit the net that the linesman signalled for a goal and in true goal-getter's fashion, the midfielder is claiming the strike.

Not that he’ll get much argument from Christie himself as the supersub played a part in the first two goals before easing home a wondrous strike from outside the box for the third and final goal of the game.
