Scott Sinclair scoops two awards at club’s Player of the Year event

Double Delight

SCOTT Sinclair is Celtic’s Player of the Year – and that’s a choice shared by supporters and players alike. The 28-year-old, who has been in impressive form throughout this first season with the Hoops, picked up two awards at the club’s annual event on Sunday night.

Sinclair picked up the Player of the Year award, sponsored by Dafabet, and voted for by the fans, while he was also named the Players’ Player of the Year, the award sponsored by Eden Mill.

Speaking on stage, the winger said: “I’ve been at so many clubs but here I feel like I’ve found a home. To have the connection with the fans and playing week in, week out, scoring goals and having amazing team-mates – I can’t thank them enough – and also thank-you to Brendan Rodgers.

“The past two or three years have been tough. Being at Manchester City and not playing for two years and then getting relegated with Aston Villa, I was at a crossroads in my career and didn’t really know where to turn.

“And the manager drove halfway around Spain just to have a meeting with me to try and get me to come to Celtic, and he put me back on that platform so that I can do what I do best and get me back to scoring goals.”

There was also a double delight for Moussa Dembele, who was named Top Goalscorer of the Year (sponsored by Ladbrokes), while he also picked up the award for Goal of the Season (sponsored by Magners) for his strike in a 5-2 win against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park, his finish the culmination of a brilliant team move of 24 passes involving every player.
