Lewis Morgan is aiming to hit the ground running when he teams up with the Hoops

WHEN Lewis Morgan took in Celtic’s UEFA Champions League encounter with Anderlecht last month, it simply strengthened his resolve to seal a move to the Scottish champions.

The atmosphere and sense of occasion blew the 21-year-old away and now he’s setting his sights on being on the pitch the next time the Hoops return to the Champions League stage.

Having completed his transfer to the Bhoys last week, Morgan has returned to St Mirren on loan for the remainder of the campaign before officially starting life at Celtic as pre-season gets underway.

And the highly-rated winger will be a man on a mission during the rest of the term with the Buddies as he attempts to stake a claim for a starting berth in the European qualifiers in June.

“It’s a massive stadium with great fans and the team always get good backing,” the new Bhoy told the View in his first exclusive interview. “I was here for the Anderlecht game and I was blown away by the support and the noise inside the place, so I can’t wait to play here.

“When you are a spectator at a game like that then you just want to be involved. If my mind wasn’t already made up that this where I wanted to come, being there on a Champions League night definitely rubber-stamped it.

“All the fans singing You’ll Never Walk Alone when the players came out was brilliant and hopefully I can be involved in that in a playing capacity.

“It highlights how well I need to do between now and the end of the season to give myself a chance. If I can kick on well at St Mirren this year and add even more goals to my game, then when the Champions League qualifier comes around then hopefully I will be in contention to play.
