Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS ₹ 1,94,990
When Sony introduced their Alpha line-up, no one would have expected them to make a lasting mark in the imaging market. After over a decade in existence, we can surely say that Sony has come a long way with their Alpha series, though the focus has constantly shifted from D-SLR to Translucent Mirror (D-SLT) to Mirrorless. Finally, Sony has settled with the 35mm mirrorless format and if the recent lens launches are any indication, they mean serious business. The Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS further extends the G-Master line-up in a much sought after slot. Design and Build Quality
Sony G-Master lenses are built sturdy, and the 70-200 is crafted out of the same mould. The outer body is predominantly metal, with a generous addition of sturdy engineering plastic seamlessly blending with the metal parts. The zoom and focus rings have broad textured rubber grips. The lens has a rubber gasket to keep dust and water out of the mount. The lens is completely sealed from dust and moisture. A fluorine coating on the front element makes sure that dust and grime don’t stick to the front element, making it a truly all-weather design.
A metal tripod collar with a removable tripod receptacle allows you to quickly reorient the lens in horizontal or vertical position. The lens has four switches—AF/MF, Focus Limiter (Full, Infinity to 3m), OSS (On/Off) and OSS Mode (1, 2). It also incorporates three Focus Hold buttons, arranged at 0, 90 and 180 degrees. The 70- 200mm GM lens is threaded to accept a 77mm filter. The lens has a metal mount while the filter thread is plastic. A petal-shaped plastic lens hood is included, which looks rugged and has a non-reflective velvet inner lining.
