FOR THRILL-SEEKERS
Mount Kinabalu
While already an internationally renowned mountain designated as Malaysia’s first Unesco World Heritage Site in 2000, did you know that this 4,095m tall mountain is still one of the youngest in the world? Apparently, it hasn’t stopped growing either. According to the August 2019 edition of Lonely Planet: Best of Malaysia & Singapore, researchers have found that Mt Kinabalu increases about 5mm in height a year.
So, if you’re looking to tick mountain climbing off your bucket list, look no further; based on Mt Kinabalu’s own website mountkinabalu.com, the Mount Kinabalu summit is open for booking in 2021 and 2022. The site even has extensive, regularly updated information on where to get legal climbing permits and the best timing for climbing.
Water-Rafting at Tenom
Dubbed the ‘town of coffee’ by the locals, the agricultural hub of Sabah is less than three hours away from the Kota Kinabalu International Airport. Be sure to drop by the town’s coffee production factories.
