The Transition Scout looks sharper for 2020: its new frame is only available in carbon-fibre, the geometry and sizing has been tweaked (slacker and longer, naturally, with Transition’s favoured short-offset fork) and travel has gone up by 10mm too.
Basic bike evolution, but you might be more surprised to learn that Transition’s motive for switching from alloy to carbon is not solely for performance gains.
Yes, it’s easier to make a carbon frame lighter and stiffer (as well as more compliant) because it can be controlled so accurately and repeatably, but it also offers much more flexibility in terms of styling and aesthetics.
Creases, chamfers, key lines and radii can be seamlessly integrated into a frame design so that it looks like a cohesive whole rather than an assembly of parts.
“We were able to do so by way of our latex-coated EPS moulding process, which allows for much sharper lines,” explains Lars Sternberg from Transition.
