Hobao Hyper VTE

HoBao has been big in the 1/8-scale scene for years with the popular Hyper series of nitro and electric buggies. In addition to getting it done on the dirt, the brand also takes its capable tech to the pavement with GT-style cars developed from the 1/8-scale off road platform. That’s what we have here in the Hyper VTe. The “e” stands for electric power (there’s also a nitro version), and this latest-generation HoBao 1/8-scale pavement pounder features an updated, race-oriented suspension; 17mm aluminum big-bore shocks; 4mm aluminum shock towers; and an all-metal drivetrain. Throw into the mix a 6S LiPo-ready power package and you have a land missile in the making. Whether you’re into straight-line speed or racing on a track, the Hyper VTe is ready for whatever you throw at it. Let’s see how it drives.

2000Kv Brushless Power

The included 2000Kv motor delivers a ton of torque and lots of rpm. Power is efficiently transferred via a steel pinion and spur gear, which mounts to the center-differential unit that spins on bearings. The center diff’s housing uses a combination of plastic forward of the diff and aluminum rear of the center diff, which doubles as the motor mount. The motor mount itself uses a slider system to precisely set gear mesh and securely hold the motor in place.
