Hyderabad: With a plethora of flavoured and nonWorld Health Organisation (WHO) standard ORS being sold in the name of Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS), most parents end up giving the wrong formula to children when they suffer with diarrhoea or vomiting. Doctors have now raised an alarm over such sweetened drinks being sold as ORS.
High sugar content in flavoured versions actually worsen the symptoms and many times children end up being hospitalised. In fact, ORS should never be sweet in taste and these non-WHO standard sweetened ones do more harm than good to patients, according to experts.
