ROUND THREE

The New York Giants selected Central Florida cornerback Aaron Robinson with the 71st pick in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. The Giants traded up five spots from No. 76 with the Denver Broncos, surrendering pick No. 164 - a selection they received from the Chicago Bears in the blockbuster first-round trade the previous night.

So, why would general manager Dave Gettleman trade up for Robinson when his modus operandi was trading back in this draft, which was full of unknowns and uncertainties?

“Where Aaron fits in is he gives us more perimeter muscle, so to speak, and he’s also got that flexibility to play the nickel and play the star,” Gettleman told reporters after Day 2 of the draft.
