Giants anonymous
Giants defenders faced their biggest opponents of the season recently...anonymity. Two unidentified defensive players made critical comments of head coach Ben McAdoo to ESPN’s Josina Anderson, claiming that the second-year head coach had “lost the team” over several issues, including his suspensions of cornerbacks Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Janoris Jenkins. After the comments were made, several prominent Giants defenders stood by their coach.
“Whoever was anonymous, whoever said it is a coward. Flat out,” defensive tackle Damon Harrison said. “If you’re not man enough to put your name behind something that you feel because that hasn’t been echoed to anybody in this locker room. I mean, we could have talked it out if you feel that way.”
“Being around a long time, I feel like if you lost the locker room, there’d be a lot more being done around here,” cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie added. “I still see guys going out, practicing hard, paying attention, taking notes in meetings. So if you lose the locker room, you’re not going to be doing that.”
For his part, McAdoo praised his defenders’ public responses and labeled the comments “fake news.”
“We can handle it, we’re strong,” McAdoo said. “You saw how the players responded in the locker room yesterday, I thought they did a great job.”
Six more weeks of McAdoo
