She's going to have a super-busy year: from releasing new music to shooting a new season of her family reality show. And she doesn’t mind one bit.
When we meet Dineo Ranaka at Kota Joe restaurant in Edenvale, Joburg, she’s in a cute, coordinated outfit – a purple tracksuit pants and matching cat-eye sunglasses.
She lets us in on how she plans to win 2020.
A WINNING START
Because of a very tight schedule, she didn’t get to spend as much time with her family and children over the Christmas period.
“I have added music and deejaying to my career now and the gigs are coming in hard and strong. We will catch up when things start to settle down a bit.”
She has a new single out called Sibahle and will soon be releasing another called Ngwana Malume.
Both tracks were produced by Drum Pope.
“My 2020 will be music-infested. I do not want to box myself as an artist and give you a genre, but we have themed these two tracks afro-yano because it has both afro-tech and amapiano elements.”
Fan favourites The Ranakas are also set to return to screens and she says as a family, they are excited about the show.
“You cannot script The Ranakas, it is organised chaos for television. We know there are people who judge our family and how we do things, but we know our values and we know what is important to us. We will not be dictated to by strangers.”
She says she is inspired by the newly crowned Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi, who encourages women to take up spaces and cement themselves.
“How I interpret that is: ‘Screw fear, be like Nike and just do it’.”
