What would you do if you discovered your partner was cheating? You’d throw him out, change the locks and never speak to him again. Right? well, not necessarily.

A shocking 52% of women say they’d stand by their cheating husbands. Famously, Alex Hollywood – wife of Great British Bake Off star Paul – forgave his affair in 2013. ‘It [the affair] was the biggest mistake of my life,’ Paul said at the time. Only now, just four years later, the pair have announced their separation. Friends close to the couple say they were never really able to move on from Paul’s past mistakes. Their split, it seems, was inevitable. So, despite how hard you try, does an affair always mean a call to a divorce lawyer will soon follow? Here, we speak to two women, with two very different views…
