End of the road for EAMONN AND RUTH?
WOMAN - UK|January 03, 2022
It’s all change for the TV duo, but now that they are no longer side by side on our screens, can they still keep the magic alive?
End of the road for EAMONN AND RUTH?

They may be Britain’s best-loved broadcasting couple, but the past 12 months have been a pretty tumultuous time in the Holmes-Langsford household.

Exactly a year ago, Eamonn and Ruth were dealt a body blow by ITV when they were replaced on their regular Friday presenting slot by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary. Increasingly the couple have been left with less screen time, as ITV continues to ramp up its drive towards showcasing fresh talent.

Then just a few weeks ago, Eamonn, who recently turned 62, made the shock announcement that, after 15 years, he was leaving ITV for a new role as a hotshot presenter on GB News. A source from the show said, ‘Eamonn will be missed by the viewers and his exit definitely marks the end of an era.’

Indeed, Eamonn is the latest high-profile signing for recently launched GB News and, from the new year, he will front his own show several times a week.

But the move also marks the end of the lovable double act he shared with Ruth, which warmed the hearts of millions of fans over many years.

Separate ways

Having appeared as regular presenters since 2006, the couple’s down-to-earth charm and humorous tiffs helped to build themselves a firm fan base. But will Ruth, 61, continue her presenting gig on This Morning without Eamonn? And if she does, who will be her sidekick?

Although she will continue with her regular hosting role on Loose Women, she may feel that the ITV studios are a little cooler without Eamonn and perhaps be nostalgic for the halcyon days of This Morning when they were the big names on the sofa.

Get moving to beat that low mood

Look, I know it's November. The days are shorter (like our patience) and darker (like, sometimes, our mood) and moving our body gets pushed further down the must-do list. We hunker down and become insular.
