Turns out Mary Berry is just like us and enjoys speculating over who’s had a little work
When The Great British Bake Off returned for its first series on Channel 4, fans were anxious to see whether the delicious flavour of the nation’s favourite baking show would remain intact with a new line-up of judges and presenters.
But one person who had no doubts the new Bake Off would be a hit was Mary Berry, 82. when we meet to discuss her latest book – a volume of household hints and tips she’s gleaned over the decades – former ‘queen of cakes’ Mary explains that what matters is not who’s in it, but the overall Bake Off recipe.
Mary also reveals her household dos and don’ts, and why she and her assistant love gossiping about surgery…
‘I like a house to be lived in, but I don’t like it if it’s unclean, especially the kitchen and bathrooms. Obviously I failed with my children because Annabel is artistic and different. My son? He’s rubbish at housekeeping. He wouldn’t notice if a bathroom was clean or not.’
