Davina McCall talks to us about most difficult times in life...
Over the years we’ve seen plenty of different sides to Davina mcCall. There’s fun Davina, think Big Brother and The Jump, daredevil Davina in Life At The Extreme and big-hearted Davina in countless shows from Comic Relief to This Time Next Year. But when we meet to chat about the new series of ITV’s Long Lost Family, she’s in an altogether more reflective mood. The star reveals how she relates to some of the show’s heart-rending stories after she experienced difficult times in her own life. when her party loving mum Florence left her at the age of three, Davina was raised by her paternal grandparents. more recently, she lost her sister Caroline to cancer at the age of just 50.
The 49-year-old presenter lives with her businessman husband matthew Robertson and their three children: Holly, 15, Tilly, 13, and Chester, 10.
‘I can’t talk to anybody after I’ve finished filming Long Lost Family. The days where I’m going to tell somebody news are intense and enormously draining. So afterwards I get into the car and listen to music to unwind. Otherwise I have a quick bath and a few minutes to process it all. The ‘reunion’ days on the other hand are always amazing – like being with someone on their wedding day!’
