WHY GO?

Colorado is the real America, a land with a history of cowboys and miners, where the Great Plains stop at the mighty Rocky Mountains. A winter holiday here offers excitement like no other, with modern ski resorts sat alongside colourful Victorian towns, both with plenty for non-skiers, too. Head out west for a choice of winter wonderlands that take in this iconic world of railroads and ranches.

Ride the Rails…

THE RESORT

Winter Park is the closest ski area to Denver and railroad-themed, with the California Zephyr, connecting Chicago and San Francisco, rolling past daily. The car-free and modern village of huge apartments is packed with shops, bars and restaurants – from the iron and steel of Derailer Bar to The Lodge at Sunspot, a cavernous, log-hewn, mountaintop venue, where dinner includes a lift ride. The town of Winter Park itself has plenty more options, such as Volario’s, northern Italian cuisine in the ranch-house styling of Vasquez Creek Inn.
