Melanie C on Madonna, loving LA and drinking pints of Guinness
She made trackies cool in the 90s as the back-flipping member of the Spice Girls. But mum-of-one melanie C has had quite a rebirth recently. While she still loves working out (she’ll always be Sporty Spice to us), having her daughter Scarlet, now nearly eight, changed her life immeasurably. Now, with her new album Version Of Me hitting the charts, the 42-year-old talks exclusively to Woman’s Own about her favourite things.
1 TAKEAWAY
It depends on the occasion but we’ve got a really great fish and chip shop down the road. Even though I’ve lived in London since I was 16, I’m still a northern girl and every Friday night used to be chippy night. So my little girl and I have got back into that tradition. There’s something about the smell of hot chips covered in salt and vinegar. And I love mushy peas and a gherkin!
2 PIECE OF CLOTHING
I’ve got a few bits and bobs from the Spicey days that I’m keeping for Scarlet. Like the Adidas track suit that I wore on stage, it’s high up in a cupboard out of the way. She’s not shown too much interest in Sporty Spice’s clothes yet!
