Should e-scooters be banned?

YES

‘One nearly ran me over!’

Kirsty Ketley, 41, is a parent consultant who runs auntiekschildcare.co.uk and lives in Cranleigh with her husband and two children.

After I stepped on to a zebra crossing in summer 2020, a man on an electric scooter shot towards me, completely ignorant of the fact that I had the right of way. I jumped back on to the pavement, shaken by what could’ve been a terrible accident.

Then, last November, another e-scooter darted in front of me as I slowed down at a red traffic light, forcing me to slam on the brakes.

Of course, I can see the appeal of e-scooters, thanks to their low environmental impact, but the reality is that at best they’re annoying, and at worst they’re dangerous!
