She quit The Great British Bake Off earlier this year after successfully co-presenting the show with Noel Fielding for three years, but that hasn’t stopped broadcaster Sandi Toksvig keeping busy.

The 62-year-old was back on screens in Channel 4’s The Write Offs, and QI, and during the first lockdown, she began a home-based project she really enjoyed, a series of YouTube videos and podcasts, Vox Tox, and wrote Toksvig’s Almanac 2021.

‘In a way lockdown wasn’t so strange because sitting in my office at home is a normal thing for me,’ explains Sandi, who lives in London.

‘But I have truly missed my three children and my grandchildren, and I’ve missed hugging my friends,’ she adds. ‘It is the close-up, personal contact that I have really struggled with. My mum is 89, I would like to be with her more – it’s those things that are painful and difficult.’
