And an adorable new photo of her eldest boy proves just why the 40-year-old prefers jeans and sports pitches to tiaras and state banquets.

An eagle-eyed fan spotted Prince George, eight, playing soccer for his school’s team recently, prompting insiders to tell Woman’s Day that taking her kids to their chosen sports is Kate’s favourite pastime.

“Kate is a regular on the sidelines at George’s football matches, often with William by her side,” says a source. “They are just like any proud parents cheering their kids on.”

Indeed, royal reporter Katie Nicholl told Vanity Fair last year that “George is football crazy and actually a very good player”.
