Although it’s a great destination for families and couples, it turns out the largest of the Cook Islands is also a very cool place to hang with your gal pals.

1 Sizzling sisters

I took my sister Anna with me on my latest return to my favourite island. An easy four hour Air New Zealand flight and you’re at your accommodation within half an hour of arriving in the delicious 25-degree heat. We jumped in our rented Mini convertible, and Thelma and Louise’d ourselves to the brand new Moana Sands Lagoon Resort at Muri Beach. There are no under-18s allowed, so much as we like screaming brats, there were none in the pool as we lay beside it, sipping our first Mai Tai of the trip.
