When Angelina Jolie descended on the Golden Globes red carpet earlier this month, it was all eyes on the Hollywood star as she was about to finally face her former love rival Jennifer Aniston.

But Woman’s Day has learnt that the run-in, microscopically examined by the world, was all a great diversion – the big news

from the awards show was that Angelina was being set up on a date with Tom Hiddleston by their mutual pal Chris Hemsworth!

“Ange was complaining that her love life sucked and that guys were scared of asking her out after her split from Brad,” reports an insider, speaking exclusively to Woman’s Day. “That’s when Chris mentioned that his mate Tom has always had the hots for her – and Ange said she liked him too.”

We’re told Thor star Chris, 34, took a selfie with Angelina, 42, when they were sat next to each other at the lavish Los Angeles event and sent it to his close pal Tom, 36. He then introduced the pair via a private messaging app.

Since then, Angelina and Tom – likely to be known as “Tomgelina” if the sparks keep flying – haven’t stopped texting and calling each other. Our insider says, “They are talking about doing dinner together in LA in a couple of weeks. There is definite chemistry between them and Ange has been gushing how much she likes Tom’s new look, with his rugged beard.”
