It’s been a full year for baby Neve

In her hand-knitted pompom hat and bright yellow parka, little Neve Gayford looked cute as a button last week when she stepped out on some very important business.

As New Zealand’s First Baby, she was at Auckland’s Devonport Naval Base to watch her mum Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern commission the vessel Manawanui. But behind the scenes, the family was preparing another celebration – Neve’s first birthday!

The tiny tot made history on June 21 last year when Jacinda, 38, became just the second political leader to give birth while in office, and since then life has been a whirl!

At just four months old, her mum and dad, fishing show host Clarke Gayford, 41, took her all the way to New York to the United Nations General Assembly, where she became a global sensation. Photos of her sitting in Clarke’s lap were viewed more than 195 million times!
