When it comes to toxic divorces, Miley and Liam are in good company
Breaking up is hard to do – especially when you’re a superstar and super-hurt couple like Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth.
Last week the humiliated Hunger Games star filed for divorce from his “Wrecking Ball” singer wife of seven months citing “irreconcilable differences”. Liam, 29, has hired divorce attorney Laura Wasser to represent him.
It’s a move that has come as a surprise to Miley, 26. “She didn’t expect it and is disappointed, but she is still doing well and has obviously moved on,” reveals a source.
While their separation initially appeared amicable, it soon turned nasty with accusations of infidelity and excessive alcohol and drug use.
“They are too different. Liam never wanted to share Miley with anyone,” claims another insider. “He loves her and he is far too traditional. He finally realised he wants to start fresh.”
But the singer hotly denies there was any cheating on her part. “I can accept that the life I’ve chosen means I must live completely open and transparent with my fans who I love, and the public, 100% of the time. What I cannot accept is being told I’m lying to cover up a crime I haven’t committed. I have nothing to hide,” she says. “I can admit to a lot of things, but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating.”
Liam has been quietly mending his broken heart in Australia, surrounded by friends and family, while his ex-wife has moved on with Kaitlynn Carter, 30. Photos of the pair on holiday shortly after the split are said to have “devastated” Liam.
Back in Hollywood, Miley was spotted with influencer Kaitlynn on a date night, where onlookers saw them “kissing and making out everywhere”.
