The heat’s on as the Shorty star weds her crooner in the tropics
There may have been four seasons in one day, but nothing could dampen the spirits of Awhimai Fraser and James Tito as they tied the knot on a beautiful white-sand beach in Rarotonga in front of 100 of their closest friends and family.
Despite the weather causing the hair and make-up artist to work overtime, the former Shortland Street actress and her Modern Maori Quartet crooner wouldn’t change a thing about their special day.
“We had humidity, rain, sun and massive heatwaves, so my foundation was falling off at points,” laughs Awhimai, 23. “But there’s not a single thing I’d do differently, which is so surreal to say because I definitely was prepared to have something go terribly wrong.”
Grinning, James, 30, adds, “It was more than we could have asked for.”
The newlyweds, who met in 2015, had initially planned for a big bash in their hometown of Taupo, but on the spur of the moment decided to tack on their wedding to the end of a trip to the Cook Islands for Awhimai’s cousin’s 21st birthday.
