Vinita Chaitanya, proprietor of her Bangalore based interior design studio.
Vinita describes her style as 'contemporary classic' euphoric blend of sumptuous silks, traditional paisleys, exquisite Indian artifacts and modern Western covetables. She delightfully layers different cultures and periods. This divine mixology is her USP. She shapes a seamless design experience that flows right up to the infinity pool.
Her work ethic goes beyond interior design to a unique vertical that defines her and separates her from the rest - her passionate involvement from concept through to delivery. This holistic vision starts from a bare shell to completing the home with not only furniture and fittings, but with a connoisseur's eye for art and accessories.
Owning a Vinita Chaitanya designed home or customized space immediately catapults you into an exclusive zone. When your brand is also your name, there is a heightened sense of responsibility and commitment- she doesn't let herself down. Her design firm, going strong since 1988, brilliantly reflects her personal branding.
AD: WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO PURSUE A CAREER IN DESIGN?
VINITA I got into interior design purely by accident. My father who was in the India Tobacco Company (ITC) had moved to Calcutta on a transfer and I had just completed by Bachelor of Arts in Bangalore. I went over to help them unpack etc and bang next to the hotel we were temporarily staying at the WPTI (woman's professional training institute). They had a diploma course in interior design and I joined it out of sheer boredom; I think. In about 8 months I got picked by The Oberoi Grand for a design internship back in 1984 and the rest is History.
