Dark shadows, loud bangs and flickering lights left Marnie Simpson terrified when she moved into her dream family home.
But it was when she saw floating orbs on her children’s baby monitors that she knew she had to get rid of the ghosts.
“Strange things started to happen after a few months. It was the loud bangs, the noises, the commotion… We always used to see stuff all the time, like orbs and shadows passing through,” confides Marnie, 31, who is mum to sons Rox, three, and nine-month-old Oax. “None of the kids would sleep ever. It was affecting them. Rox sleeps a bit now but he was always scared.”
After dark was the worst time for Marnie, who is still waking up to feed her youngest son at night. “My bedroom felt the most haunted. I’m still really funny about being in there if it’s dark,” says Marnie. “I’m getting up in the middle of the night doing night feeds and I’m definitely spooked. It doesn’t matter how much you want to try and be brave, it’s a scary thing. Even if the presence isn’t angry, it’s still scary. Anything supernatural scares me.”
Things became so bad at their Bedfordshire home that Marnie started to feel trapped.
“I’d normally stay in one room and shut the door, scared to go out of the room. I felt like a prisoner in my own home,” she explains.
And even Marnie’s fiancé Casey, 27, was scared. “He was really freaked out,” says Marnie. “Men aren’t as brave as women. I’m sorry. He was so scared.”
