Facing Stephen Bear in court and being cross-examined over her sex life was the hardest thing Love Island star Georgia Harrison has ever endured. But with hundreds of messages flooding in from girls and women suffering the same humiliation – and two teenage sisters at home – Georgia was determined to stand up for young women like them everywhere.
Speaking exclusively to new last week, Georgia, 28, said it’s especially important as she knows that something as personal as an explicit sex video can lead victims to dark places and even thoughts of suicide.
She told us, “I’ve got two little sisters [Eva and Darcey] and they’re both teenagers. It really scares me. One thing that I always had in mind was, ‘If this had happened to me in school, is it something I physically could have lived with?’ I don’t know if it is.
“You grow up a lot from a teenager and if I’d had to go through that situation at a younger age, I just don’t think I would have overcome it emotionally.”
Former Celebrity Big Brother winner Stephen, 33, was jailed for 21 months earlier this month after being found guilty of voyeurism and two counts of disclosing private sexual photographs and films of Georgia. In the films from 2020, Georgia and Stephen were having sex in the back garden of his Loughton, Essex, home. It was captured on his CCTV.
Now Georgia is hoping that his sentence will serve as a warning to others and she wants to help hundreds of other women in the same position.
