WHY PLAYING A SCORNED WIFE OUT FOR BLOOD APPEALED TO THE STAR
CALL OF THE WILD

Jenna Coleman

How would you react if you found out your partner had been unfaithful? For Liv Taylor (Jenna Coleman), the discovery that husband Will (Oliver JacksonCohen) cheated on her with a colleague on more than one occasion is enough to have her plotting to murder him, using an adventure holiday in Arizona as the perfect cover for an unfortunate 'accident! Speaking before the SAG-AFTRA strike, Coleman, 37, discusses the "unique and extraordinary journey" of playing Liv in the six-part revenge thriller, Wilderness.

How would you sum up Wilderness?

There's a huge arc. It's about a woman who finds out her husband is cheating, and begins to plot ways and means in which to kill him. But what ensues is a very different chain of events, almost like a rollercoaster or an acid trip or a hallucinogenic, mad, trippy, wonky, unexpected journey for any person to go on. It's like a domino effect that's uncontrollable and unstoppable, and the chain of events ensures another chain of events and so on. It's very heightened but also grounded in an emotional and truthful experience.

What can you tell us about Liv and her relationship with Will?

We meet her at a point in her life where she's experienced some kind of imposter syndrome. She's a bit unsure of who she is. Her relationship with Will has some codependence and the boundaries are quite blurred. Through her own insecurities, self-doubt and lack of self-worth, she puts a lot of herself into Will and her relationship with him.

What are the main themes that come out during the course of the six episodes?
