With her usually dark locks now a strawberry-blonde hue, and wearing an elaborate pink gown topped off by a dazzling tiara, a first look at Ariana Grande in Wicked shows the singer completely transformed to tackle the role of Glinda.

But her makeover to portray the Good Witch for the big-screen adaptation of the beloved musical isn't just skin deep.

"I kind of had to completely erase popstar Ari - the person that they know so well because it's even harder to believe someone as someone else when you're so branded as one thing," the 30-year-old star recently said in an interview with the Zach Sang Show."I had to really go all the way to strip that down." This included taking daily voice lessons for over six months. And the hard work was more than worth it for Grande, who admits the role has had a massive impact on her in more ways than one.

"I really, really worked hard for it and my god, I am so grateful for it because it is the best, most transformative experience and special experience of my life," she says.
