<p id="1"><strong>S</strong>he announced she was taking a break from her hit radio show back in October, and now Kate Ritchie has updated fans on her health. &ldquo;As announced previously, I am taking a break until next year. The last year has been incredibly emotionally challenging, as well as a relentless schedule, stress and a lack of sleep,&rdquo; she shared in an Instagram post on December 8. &ldquo;I came to realise that this had led to an unhealthy reliance on alcohol.&rdquo;</p>

<p id="2">The statement came just days after the former&nbsp;<em>Home and Away </em>star, 44, had been spotted leaving a mental health facility in Sydney. &ldquo;I decided to use this time to do something positive by getting the help&nbsp;I need from professionals who specialise in this area,&rdquo; she wrote. &ldquo;As everyone would understand, this is a very big step for me to take. I want to sincerely thank everyone who is supporting me.&rdquo;</p>

<p id="2">Friends and fans were quick to praise the star for her bravery in speaking out. &ldquo;You are strong. Asking for help is strength,&rdquo; commented <em>Today Extra</em> cohost, David Campbell. &ldquo;Getting help is true courage. Everything else is noise. Stay strong.&rdquo; Similarly, Olympian Leisel Jones told Ritchie that &ldquo;there&rsquo;s so much strength to be found in vulnerability&rdquo;. &ldquo;Luckily you are a very strong woman and I have no doubt this time of healing will reveal an even better version of you,&rdquo; she added.</p>
