NEW THRILLER
Payback
Wednesday, 9pm, ITV1 (box set, ITVX)
Morven Christie is caught up in a terrifying world of financial corruption and organised crime in ITVI's new thriller Payback.
The six-parter, which is executive produced by Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio, opens with her character, Lexie Noble, witnessing the death of her accountant husband Jared, who is murdered in the street near their home in Edinburgh.
The shocking incident turns Lexie's world upside down, but as the mum-of-two struggles to come to terms with her loss, she discovers Jared was on the verge of completing a huge and highly confidential money-laundering deal on behalf of Scottish crime boss, Cal Morris (Peter Mullan).
Jared never got to finalise the deal, and now, with millions of pounds left hanging in limbo, Cal believes Lexie is his only way of retrieving the cash.
