Rhod Gilbert: A Pain in the Neck
Monday, 9pm, C4
Rhod Gilbert has been an active supporter of cancer charities for many years, hosting stand-up gigs and going on fundraising expeditions around the world.
So the irony wasn't lost on the Welsh comedian when, during a 2022 trek in Cuba to raise money for Velindre Cancer Hospital in Cardiff, he noticed symptoms that would subsequently be diagnosed as head and neck cancer.
Ahead of Friday's Stand Up to Cancer TV extravaganza, during which Gilbert will host a special comedy roast, he shares his cancer journey in a one-off documentary that features his personal video diaries of living with the condition and undergoing surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, retaining his mordant wit throughout.
