The Smeds and the Smoos
Christmas Day, 2.30pm, BBC1
A cosmic tale of forbidden alien love lands on BBC1 this Christmas as the children's story of The Smeds and the Smoos, from writer Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler, is brought to life.
The stunning short film, made by Magic Light Pictures, whisks viewers off into outer space, where the red Smeds- who love to play in water and drink pink milk share a long-standing rivalry with the blue Smoos, who like black tea and jump about like kangaroos.
But when young Smed Janet (voiced by Ashna Rabheru) forms an unlikely friendship with Smoo Bill (Daniel Ezra) that leads to love, their families are outraged, forcing the star-crossed pair to jet off in the Smeds' red rocket.
Can grumpy Grandfather Smed (Bill Bailey) and his nemesis, Grandmother Smoo (Adjoa Andoh), look past their differences and join forces to bring the runaways home?
