NEW CRIME DRAMA
Dalgliesh
Thu & Fri, 9pm, Channel 5
Bertie Carvel gave a powerful and poignant performance as widowed detective DCI Adam Dalgliesh in the first series of Channel 5 crime drama Dalgliesh, and now he’s heading back to the 1970s for more cerebral sleuthing.
Based on the acclaimed novels by PD James, the new run, which consists of three two-part cases, finds Dalgliesh – who lost his wife and baby before the start of the first series – at a turning point. The contemplative sleuth has been balancing police work with writing poetry, but now he is offered the chance to further his literary career.
