Over the past 40 years, an extraordinary pride of lions that lives on the Masai Mara reserve in Kenya has been the subject of numerous documentaries, from Big Cat Diary to Dynasties.

Now, a new BBC2 film, Lion: The Rise and Fall of the Marsh Pride, sees wildlife presenters Simon King and Jonathan Scott join conservationists and locals who live alongside the pride to explore the triumphs and setbacks these majestic predators have faced.
