Newly colourised footage reveals life on board the ill-fated ocean liner
Titanic in Colour
Sun, 8pm, C4 (box set, Channel 4)
Nothing brings history to life like colour photos and film footage. But when the Titanic was lost to the depths of the Atlantic Ocean on 15 April 1912 after famously hitting an iceberg, she took with her almost all evidence of life on board.
Today, only grainy black-andwhite photographs of the vessel remain. But thanks to colourisation techniques, C4’s Titanic in Colour brings to life the ship’s lavish interiors and the dramatic true stories of those on board.
‘It makes you realise that these people didn’t exist in a black-andwhite world,’ says historian Guy Walters. ‘They existed in a world as colourful as ours.’
