Tchéky Karyo is best known for playing the detective tracking down people who had vanished in hit thrillers The Missing and Baptiste. But as The Tailor in BBC1's darkly comic drama Boat Story, he's on the hunt for something rather different a stolen stash of illegal drugs!

Two episodes in, it's hard to know what to make of this mercurial mobster, having seen the softly spoken clothier lovingly fitting a customer for a suit, only to brutally torture someone moments later. And just when we expected him to dispatch eyewitness Pat (Joanna Scanlan, see panel, right), the dapper Frenchman revealed a romantic streak.
