THRILLER (BOX SET, BBC iPLAYER)
What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever found on a beach?
For a pair of dog-walking strangers in six-part Yorkshire-set thriller Boat Story, the answer is a shipwreck containing two dead bodies and a stash of illegal drugs! And queerer still, rather than calling the police, the pair impulsively decide to steal the haul so they can sell it on for a vast sum of money.
What could possibly go wrong?
This darkly comic creation from the writers of The Missing and The Tourist (see our panel, right) follows the exploits of odd couple Janet (Back to Life’s Daisy Haggard), who’s unemployed after an accident at the factory she worked in, and Samuel (Vigil star Paterson Joseph), an exlawyer with huge gambling debts, as they attempt to cash in on the unexpected windfall.
However, their side hustle is a dangerous one, since terrifying French mobster ‘The Tailor’ (The Missing and Baptiste’s Tchéky Karyo) and his ruthless henchman Guy (One Piece’s Craig Fairbrass) will stop at nothing to recover their cocaine shipment.
TV Times sat down with Daisy, 45, and Paterson, 59, to find out more…
