AFTER THE FLOOD
WEDNESDAY, 9PM, ITV1 DRAMA (BOX SET, ITVX)
Sophie Rundle is thrilled to be at the heart of the action in ITV1’s new mystery drama, After the Flood.
Written by Mick Ford (Stay Close), the six-parter sees the Gentleman Jack and Peaky Blinders star play Joanna Marshall, a police constable who makes quite a splash in the opening episode when she jumps into a raging torrent to save a child’s life after a devastating flood hits her Yorkshire home town.
‘I don’t usually get to do much action stuff,’ says Sophie, 35, as TV Times catches up with her for a chat about the series. ‘The water was so powerful – it was definitely one of the most exciting scenes I’ve ever shot. And my character was seven months pregnant, which made it even more memorable!’
The story takes a deadly twist when the body of an unidentified man is found in a lift in an underground car park, with the police quick to assume he was trapped by rising floodwaters. Jo, however, remains unconvinced and becomes obsessed with finding out what really happened to him: How did he get in the lift, and why does no one know who he is?
