GHOSTS
LAST ONE FRIDAY, 8.30PM, BBC1 COMEDY
Even though Mike Cooper has never been able to see Button House’s squabbling spectres in BBC1 comedy Ghosts, sharing the stately home with them for the past few years has still proved life-changing for both him and wife Alison. And for Kiell SmithBynoe, who plays good-hearted Mike, starring in the series has been just as special.
‘Every time someone tells me they love Ghosts and that it’s the only thing they watch as a family, it means a lot,’ the actor, 34, tells TV Times in an exclusive interview. ‘And career-wise, it’s been huge – it’s opened doors for me and given me the chance to work on my own projects. Ghosts has shown what I can do, from emotional scenes to physical comedy.’
As the final series ends this week – before the show bows out for ever with an upcoming Christmas special – Mike and Alison (Charlotte Ritchie) face a big decision. The cash-strapped parents-to-be have been trying to sell part of their land to developers who want to create a golf course, but when they hear of a new offer that could mean leaving the house and its resident phantoms for good, they are torn.
Here, Kiell, who’s set to host the Christmas special and next series of The Great British Sewing Bee, tells us what to expect…
How does this dilemma affect Mike and Alison?
