Now we’re back TOGETHER!

It’s the bittersweet moment Neighbours fans have been waiting for… Over the course of this week’s final six episodes, Erinsborough’s legendary lovebirds Charlene and Scott Robinson – played by Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan – along with heart-throb Mike Young, portrayed by Guy Pearce, are all heading back to Ramsay Street.

Here, Guy, 54, who has since gone on to become an award-winning Hollywood lm star, talks to us about returning to his old stomping ground…

You played Mike from 1986 to 1989 – how was it being back in Erinsborough?

It’s sort of everything… It’s surreal. I’m an incredibly nostalgic person, so I’ve always wanted to step back on to the show at some stage, and, with the sad news that it’s finishing, it seemed like the appropriate time. And, thankfully, I was planning a trip back home anyway, so it just worked.

It was really lovely working with the likes of [current cast members] Stefan Dennis [Paul Robinson] and Annie Jones [ Jane Harris], and [other returnees] Paul Keane [Des Clarke], Geo Paine [Clive Gibbons] and Peter O’Brien [Shane Ramsay] again.

What has Mike been up to since he left Ramsay Street?

He moved to Perth and became a teacher. Viewers will nd out that Mike is now a dad. He and his daughter have moved back to Erinsborough.

Was it a challenge to reconnect with the character after all these years?

I had to trawl through my memory bank to understand how I might actually play him. But, funnily enough, the producers still had Mike’s old motorcycle gloves in a box, so that helped!
