NORTH SEA CONNECTION SAT, 9PM & 9.45PM, BBC4 DRAMA (BOX SET, BBC iPLAYER)
The stunning scenery of Ireland’s west coast conceals a dark gangland secret in BBC4’s new contemporary thriller North Sea Connection.
Written by Mark Greig (Ashes to Ashes, Marcella), the six-part series follows Ciara Kenny (Lydia McGuinness), the Galway based skipper of a small fishing boat, who occasionally brings ashore bags of smuggled cigarettes for her brother, Aidan (Strike star Kerr Logan), to sell on.
But her life changes forever when she discovers her ambitious sibling has got the whole family, including their widowed mum, Moira (Sinéad Cusack), embroiled with a dangerous Nordic drugs cartel.
